Maharajo Eki Saje ( মহারাজ, একি সাজে ) | Rabindrasangeet | Shreya Guhathakurta | সাতাশের২৫

The story goes - an association named 'Kham-kheyali sabha' was formed in 1896 by Tagore to nurture contemporary literature and music. One day sometime in 1909, here in this association, a famous classical singer sang a classical song containing highly complicated patterns. Rabindranath the exquisitely talented person that he was, readily penned down a verse for the melody he had just heard and asked the singer to sing again with his verses. The song was 'Maharaj e ki saaje ele ...'

The rendition of the song is by Sreya Guhathakurta, who is one of the young & popular frontline Rabindra Sangeet Artists. She hails from a musical family and is the daughter of famous TV & Film Acting couple Bhishma & Sashwati Guhathakurta. Shreya had her musical training, specially in Tagore music from an early childhood.

ঘটনাটি ঘটে ১৮৯৬ সালে রবীন্দ্রনাথ দ্বারা স্থাপিত "খামখেয়ালী সভায়। সে প্রায় ১৯০৯ সালের কথা, এক শাস্ত্রীয় গানের শিল্পী তার এক ধ্রুপদী গান পরিবেশন করছিলেন।গুরুদেবের সে সুর এত ভাল লাগে যে তিনি সেই সুরে কথা বসিয়ে মুহুর্তে একটা গান রচনা করে শিল্পীকে গাইতে অনুরোধ করলেন। গানটি ছিল 'মহারাজা এ কী সাজে'।

গানটি শুনব শ্রেয়া গুহঠাকুরতার কন্ঠে । তরুণ প্রজন্মের শিল্পিদের মধ্যে শ্রেয়া রবীন্দ্রসঙ্গীত গায়নে যথেষ্ঠ সুনাম অর্জন করেছেন। বিখ্যাত ফিল্ম ও টিভি অভিনেতা দম্পতি ভীষ্ম ও শাশ্বতী গুহঠাকুরতার কন্যা শ্রেয়া খুব ছোটবেলা থেকে রবীন্দ্রগানের তালিম নিয়েছেন।
