Leon Mendonca became an International Master in 2019 at the age of 12 and achieved the Grandmaster title in January 2021 after earning his norms in various tournaments across Europe. In addition to his competitive achievements, he has created popular Fritztrainers for ChessBase and frequently appears on their YouTube channel. Notably, in January 2024, he won the Challengers' section of the Tata Steel Chess Tournament and secured second place at the Biel Chess Festival.
