My review of original 69 Pbass. It's gorgeous beast!
http://angeldust-guitars.com/fender-p...

No talks, just 9 minutes of pure bass. Sound with roundwounds, flats, fingerstyle, slap, sound with pick overdriven, sound with drums, solo, mix. So i just tried to make this review useful for bass players who really wanted to know how exactly this bass would sound in studio environment. No post FX! Just pure sound of bass in different mixes with different styles.

I use:
Avalon DI, Aguilar DB-750 amp matched with Bergantino HD-210 cabinet through Rode NT-2A Mic (sound)
RME Fireface - Macbook Pro - Logic Pro X (audio)
Final Cut Pro 10.2 (video)

Original Fender Precision that was made in far 1969! This is a classical vintage alder p-bass of the 60s and the beginning of 70s: alder – rosewood – in gorgeous Sunburst, that looks like bit darker than sunbusrt in 70-s! This axe is in very good shape for it's age. It got amazing B-shape profile neck. Bass in excellent paying condition! Action is perfect, even better than most of my modern pbasses. I have no words to descreibe how cool i feel it in my hands. Playing is so smooth and easy!

This p-bass resonates wonderfully. The wood is the most responsive among other instruments that I’ve ever had. It becomes live when in hands; feelings are great from the headstock ‘till the body end. When the bass plays live, it gives very clear lows without humming and disappearing. There’s also growl at high-mids. Very wide but focused, sits awesome in the mix. The bass is in ideal vintage condition. It is one of the rare cases, when the bass is in order concerning efficiency and appearance.

Certainly, there are some marks of usage (the most noticeable is at the back of the body), but nothing is extreme; moreover, it adds some charm to the appearance of a 45-year-old bass guitar!. Neck is in perfect condition; it tunes as you wish – truss rod works great in both sides and has a wide range of tuning Fret are going to be in good shape for a long time. Neck is now tuned low, it’s very comfortable. The bass wasn’t repainted; paint and lacquer are original. Nitrocellulose lacquer allows great and dried wood to “breathe”. Original Sunburst (vintage burst) finish got some petina in lacquer, looks amazing. I like it a lot. This bass was used by others, and me personally, very carefully; the neck has almost no marks of usage. Fingerboard and lacquer at the back are also in a perfect condition. As for the sound.

Simply saying, this is my type of a p-bass sound, the one I wanted to hear. I’ve had a lot of new, old, Fender, boutique (lakland, mike lull, sadowsky) p-basses by now, but this one leaves them beyond comparison. This bass can produce punch, and lows and distinct notes. The sound is very versatile as well. Together with other instruments, the bass sounds wonderfully; it combines well with bass drum and fills the space if necessary, but doesn’t interfere with other instruments. All strings are well-balanced, E string is one of the best I’ve ever heard.

If you have any more questions about this instrument – I will answer you with pleasure.
