My journey into Scotland began at home in the south of Manchester, northwest England. Leaving home and heading to Manchester airport, I took a 6-hour coach to Glasgow for £20 and traveled over 220 miles.

I had previously purchased a travel pass for £189 that was valid for bus, train, and ferry rides in Scotland for eight unlimited travel days. I stayed on a £21 dorm bed in a Glasgow hostel and kickstarted my journey into the highlands by boarding the train the following day to the highest railway in the UK, Corrour.
