In the Indian state of Odisha, a devotee died of suffocation while pulling the chariot of Lord Balabhadra during the annual Rath Yatra in Puri on Sunday. Several devotees from across the globe have gathered in the temple town for the festival. The man, who is yet to be identified, was rushed to the Puri district headquarters hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival. Odisha's Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi announced an ex-gratia of Rs 4 lakh to the next of kin of the deceased. The 147th Lord Jagannath’s annual Rath Yatra festival began from the Lord Jagannath temple in Puri yesterday. The Gundicha yatra this year is a two-day affair after a gap of 53 years. On Sunday, President Droupadi Murmu witnessed the Rath Yatra, along with lakhs of devotees in the pilgrim town.
