The story of the divine gathering
صرخة وعبرة وموت وآه
A scream, a lesson, death, and grief
ابدار الصادق وا ويلاه
At Al-Sadiq’s home—oh, woe!

Death and sorrow
قصة مجلس .. بيت الساده
A tale of a gathering… the house of nobility
جزع وعبره .. يموت النادى
Fear and tears… the gathering mourns to death

دخل شاعر على الصادق حچه وبدمعته محتار
A poet entered upon Al-Sadiq, speaking with a tearful heart
على جدك كتبت ابيات واريد اقرها الك بالدار
By your grandfather, I wrote verses, and I wish to recite them to you at home
الصادق كال تانيني للنسوان اسوي استار
Al-Sadiq replied: “Give me time, I will make a screen for the women”
واناديهن ينوحن عالغريب ويجرن الاعبار
I will call them, and they will wail for the stranger and shed tears
وبده الشاعر يگول حسين وينقل للمصيبه اخبار
And the poet began to say: "Hussain," and transferred the news of the tragedy
على صدر الحسين امرر الحوافرهم تشوف اثار
Upon Hussain’s chest, they trample with their hooves, you can see the marks

من بده يقره صاح حسين
Whoever begins to recite, “Hussain,”
كسرة ظهره اعله الچفين
Breaks his back and cries aloud
وهل الصادق دمع العين
Al-Sadiq, too, sheds tears from his eyes
دمع العين
Tears from the eyes

ويقره الشاعر جرح اسياده
And the poet recites the wounds of the masters
جزع وعبره .. يموت النادى
Fear and tears… the gathering mourns to death

الشاعر يقره بالابيات وعبرته تنسمع يا ناس
The poet recites the verses, and his sorrow is heard, O people
وكال الصادق بعبره ونبرة حزن ما تنقاس
And Al-Sadiq said, with his sorrowful tone, the depth of grief unmeasurable
على طور العراق اقره وانعاها بحزن واحساس
Upon the plain of Iraq, I recite it, mourning with sorrow and feeling
وبدي بنحر عبدالله الرضيع الشيبلنه الراس
I begin with the slaughter of Abdullah the infant, the head separated from the body
دللو الرباب تكول مذبوح الورد والياس
Rabab cries, "The flower of youth is slaughtered, and despair sets in"
نحره من الورد اترف النحر بالنبله ماينباس
The slaughter of the flower, his neck pierced by the arrows, it cannot be described

حتى اليرضع ما رحموه
Even the infants were not spared
وبسهم مثلث وذبحوه
With a triangular arrow, they slaughtered him
عطشان وذابل شافوه
Thirsty and withered, they saw him
وما رحموه
And they did not have mercy on him

بالطف ذبحو .. كل اولاده
In Karbala, they slaughtered all of his children
جزع وعبره .. يموت النادى
Fear and tears… the gathering mourns to death

الناعي يقره بابياته ويعدد للمصيبة احزان
The eulogist recites his verses, enumerating the sorrows of the tragedy
وگال حسين ظل وحده وتحيطه الخيل والفرسان
And said, "Hussain remained alone, surrounded by horses and knights"
وگع من المهر للگاع وخدة توسد التربان
He fell from his horse to the ground, his face pressed into the soil
وابن جوشن على صدره گعد ويحز نحر عطشان
And Ibn Jushen sat upon his chest, mourning as his throat was dry

بدار الصادق ولن صوت وصرخة و صايح النسوان
At Al-Sadiq’s home, a voice screamed, and the women cried aloud
نادت آ يجدي حسين بحيث اتفطر الوجدان
They called, "Oh, my dear Hussain," and the heart shattered

سكت الناعي وظل مجروح
The eulogist fell silent, still wounded
وگال الصادق زيد النوح
And Al-Sadiq said, "Increase the lamentation"
ماتت بنتي اعله المذبوح
"My daughter has died upon the slaughtered"
زيد النوح
Increase the lamentation
And Al-Sadiq cried out, "Zainab has gone to captivity!"
