Typhoons Gaemi and Krathon have successively ravaged Southern Taiwan, causing damage in Kaohsiung. Chen Chi-mai
Mayor of Kaohsiung
The management of river systems has prompted us to rethink our approach. We’re adopting a comprehensive watershed management strategy. We have allocated a budget of NT$3.2 billion for flood-prone areas, encompassing a total of 63 projects. This year, Kaohsiung ranks third in urban competitiveness among all counties and cities, and second among the six special municipalities. Overall, we have improved by 13 places compared to my initial term in 2020.

Chen also highlighted the achievements of his administration over the years, noting that public satisfaction with the Kaohsiung mayor has reached a six-year high. Since taking office, he has reduced debt by NT$17.7 billion and maintained a zero-borrowing record for three consecutive years. The report showed that growth of Kaohsiung is evident, and Chen expressed gratitude for the support of citizens, pledging to continue working hard in the future.
