This has been done the old-fashioned way, no use of AIs or other, but is an original work I wrote some time ago. An alternative to a valentine which sadly is more true for some. I write what I feel and not what people want to hear, so every poem is genuine and might not be popular - I do not commercialise my work. A lot of my poems were originally written as song lyrics by me.

I Wish You Could Have Loved Me
I love you, a love that’s fine
My love has lasted over time
But you belong to her not me
I loved you even though you weren’t free

Memories I have of you, so sad
Nothing happened between us, nothing bad
I imagine all the memories with her you share
Over all the years I haven’t been there

You said you loved her looking into my eyes
I stared sadly at you longing to cry
You told me you had to draw a line
I wanted you to love me, for you to be mine

Thinking quietly out loud you spoke of me needing constant care
Saying you were a waste of space not always there
With you for a while closely I sat
We chatted filling time about this and that
All the time I thought of you loving another
With her you belonged, and me “the other”
I thought about those you loved, I couldn’t hurt
Whilst still chatting, the topic being the price of your shirt

All those years of seeing you – nothing to show
The feelings I had for you, love you didn’t know
All the years I was your constant friend
I knew had no future and soon would end

Time has gone by, years gone too fast
I keep thinking of you and things from my past
I think what might have been, what I could have had
That night that left me feeling so sad
I think of the love gone to waste
That which in me leaves a bitter taste
I loved you with all my heart and soul
You were the only one who made me feel whole

My life gone by no one to take your place
No one to share with, time or space
Whilst you’ve been happy in your life and all you do
To be happy I needed you in my life and to be with you

I hope the one you love appreciates what I done
When I chose the path I did and not the “other one”
I’ve watched over you, everything in your life I see
But how I wish instead of her, you could have loved me
