Most Europeans favour continuing to support Ukraine. However, the figures vary for different types of assistance, according to the latest Eurobarometer survey on EU aid to Ukraine and response to Russia’s war aggression conducted in the last week of August in all EU member states.
86% of respondents support further humanitarian aid for war-affected Ukrainians. 65% of Europeans approve of the EU financial support for Ukraine.
57% of Europeans support further delivery of weapons and ammunition to Ukraine and assistance with military training to enhance its defence capabilities and help repel Russian invasion.
Economic sanctions against Russia for the war are supported by 71% of respondents.
Approximately two-thirds of respondents believe the EU should support Ukraine on its path to European integration and integration into the single market (67% and 65%).
In late August, the EU diplomacy chief Josep Borrell presented the €20 billion plan to provide weapons and training programs for the Ukrainian Army for 2024-2027.
In March, the EU Council approved a three-track plan to supply Ukraine with one million artillery shells in one year.
As of July 31, the total amount of aid provided and pledged by the European states increased to 156 billion euros.
