The Drug Enforcement Administration Laboratory System has identified a new form of fentanyl that poses a significant risk to public health and safety.

This newly discovered substance is soft and pliable, allowing it to be molded and shaped, and comes in various colors and textures.

According to the DEA, laboratory tests show that this form contains combinations of fentanyl, fentanyl-related substances, and other adulterants, with purity levels ranging from less than 1% to over 20%.

Unlike traditional fentanyl samples, which are typically powders or pills, this new form's unique texture and appearance may be exploited by traffickers to disguise it as harmless materials, federal officials said.
