When Sam Drinnon was 25 weeks pregnant, doctors discovered a large tumor attached to the heart of her unborn baby. Thirty-six hours later, a multidisciplinary team of surgeons intricately and successfully resected the malignant tumor and blood flow was restored. Ten weeks after the fetal intervention, near full term, Rylan Harrison Drinnon was born via C-Section on July 13, 2021. Cleveland Clinic is the second hospital in the world to have performed this fetal surgery successfully with continued pregnancy and delivery.
