Tofte Trails is within 10 minutes of Temperance River Falls, Cascade River Falls, and the upper Poplar River Falls! Not to mention, the spectacular Oberg Mountain Loop is just up the road. The trail circles the mountaintop with outstanding views of Lake Superior and the Superior National Forest. The best hiking trails in Lutsen are close to Tofte Trails!

Upper Poplar River Falls:

Upper Poplar River Falls are cool because you can stand on the bridge over the falls. The bridge is at a spot where the river narrows into a canyon and surges downstream with incredible force! You can feel the vibration of the falls while you’re standing on the bridge! The thundering sound is incredible. It is a short hike from the Superior HIking Trail parking lot on Ski Hill Road.

It’s about 5 minutes from Tofte Trails! Head north and take Ski Hill Road (Cook County 5) to the very end. The Superior Hiking Spur trail will take you to the bridge over upper Poplar River Falls. Explore the trails in the area while you’re there!
