As I leave Henley-on-Thames, Narrowboat Changing Pace finds itself in the minority, surrounded by luxury cruisers—or as we narrowboaters call them, Gin Palaces. Don't worry, they have their own nickname for us: tin coffins, thanks to our shape. 😅

Most of the cruisers around us are hire boats, and with their numbers so great, it feels like we're in a bit of a traffic jam. Very much aware that Narrowboat Changing Pace is made of steel and could cause substantial damage with her engine off and the force of the lock water, I’m cautious sharing a lock with these Gin Palaces. Fortunately, all goes well and we navigate through safely. 🚤🔒
