De Gaulle survived 31 assassination attempts by French intelligence/military who opposed ending Algeria war. 1961: CIA Director Allen Dulles backed coup attempt against de Gaulle. JFK told French ambassador: "CIA is vast and poorly controlled machine." When JFK was shot, de Gaulle recognized pattern instantly. Oswald: the perfect patsy. Ruby: the cleanup man. Warren Commission: the cover-up. De Gaulle predicted: "They will observe law of silence. They don't want to know. They won't allow themselves to find out." Peyrefitte's memoir published 2002—never translated to English. This is why France blamed CIA for JFK's murder.
