Описание к видео Gaui X5 Sparton Vortex v3 beta

I have managed to get my hands on v3 firmware for my Spartan vx1n.

First job was to jot down the old settings so I didn't have to run through the full set up with a pitch gauge. I have a spreadsheet for this.

Then I updated the datapod to v3 followed by the vx1n flybarless unit itself. This is the same procedure as in the past. Hold the select button on the datapod then plug into the USB. Run the executable that you downloaded then follow the instructions. It's the same for updating the vx1 but uses the datapod as the pass through. Whole procedure only takes a few mins.

Next was running through the setup putting back the rotor/tail configuration values for servo trims, directions pitch values etc. Doubled checked nothing was binding on the limits then preloaded the 500 size and pro3d config using the wizards.

First flight.

Full preflight checks carried out to double check the sense directions of the tail and rotorhead and lifted off into the hover. Gave everything a waggle around which revealed the cyclics a bit slow for my taste and the tail gain was a bit high.

I landed pulled the data pod from my pocket and plugged it in. Stock values loaded in the wizards were 55% agility for all 4 flight modes, upped that to 80% dropped the tail gain from 30% to 25% in all modes. Another quick wang around revealed the cyclics were a little twitchy so landed and adjusted the expo on elevator and aileron from 20-30 on the datapod.

On a side note expos rates etc are best adjusted on the flybarless as this preserves the resolution of the transmitter. You can set quite a number of the settings on a per flight mode basis the downside is that you have to walk up to the model and do it.

Having said that I like the KISS principle where I have normal mode for spoolup idleup1 to fly and throttle hold for autos.

The video below is the second flight. As you can see its not perfect. Right tail stop as a slight over travel but that is the only thing that really needs looking at the tail geometry isn't ideal on the GAUI x5, the servo isn't the best and I'm using stock plastic tail blades so its not that surprising that its not perfect.

The major noticeable thing is the acceleration and response of the cyclics. The vortex has always felt lighting fast in this respect but has also taken some fine tuning to stop a bounce when you let go, this was most noticeable on elevator. As you can see in the video stock values work just fine a slight nod is noticeable on the collective pitch reversal as it goes through its own rotor wash I don't think you can ever lose that, its aerodynamic.
I think flybarless is getting pretty close to the point where you can fit, setup on the bench and do "personal preference" flight adjustments and fly it.
