This Sunday, we celebrate a powerful and meaningful day at Emmanuel Lutheran Church — All Saints Sunday and our 65th Anniversary as a congregation. These two celebrations remind us of one beautiful truth: God’s blessing meets us not after the storm, but right in the middle of it.

Matthew 5:1–12

From Isaiah’s promise of perfect peace in the midst of trouble, to the psalmist finding joy even in the valley of tears, to Paul’s declaration that the power that raised Christ from the dead is already alive in us, and finally to Jesus proclaiming “Blessed are the poor, the mourning, the meek” — this week’s scriptures show us that God’s blessing is not about perfection or ease, but about presence and promise.

As we remember the saints who have gone before us and celebrate 65 years of ministry on this corner of Venice, we give thanks for a God who has been faithful through every season — and who calls us blessed right now, even in the midst of our struggles.
