Status symbol aside, platinum is one of the strongest metals in the world, making it a solid choice for everyday wear because of the amount of abuse it can withstand.

— It's a favorite among watch buyers due to it's noticeably whiter color when compared to stainless steel, which tends to have a blue cast to it.

— Platinum requires very little upkeep. White gold, for instance, is plated with rhodium to achieve it's white color (without it, it's not that white, it's more of a champagne color), while platinum requires no plating at all, just some polishing to give it back it's shine.
