1972 Toyota Corolla: Rear Axle Restoration

Описание к видео 1972 Toyota Corolla: Rear Axle Restoration

In this episode I take apart the rear axel and give it some new seals, bearings, paint, and shocks.

This one had a lot of moving parts to it so it took a little while and seemed more complicated than it actually was. I had to learn how to pull and install seals, as well as press bearing. I bought a 20 ton press on sale from KMS tools, and it worked really well, and will be a staple piece of equipment in the garage.

Other wise everything was fairly straight forward, clean the piece up, fit the new parts, paint it to look new. I got some Bilstein B6 shocks from RockAuto, they needed a little finessing to fit, but I think it'll work fine. I've always been worried that my ride height will somehow be compromised by a different sized shock, I guess i'll find out soon enough.

The leaf springs were professionally packed by Canada Spring Manufacturing, and they did a great job, even painting the clamps to match my black paint. I didn't want to have to pack these myself, it seemed too tedious and important to do alone.

If you have any questions let me know!
