I am an Olympus Visionary and I have had the privilege to test out the newly launched Olympus M.Zuiko MC-20 2X Teleconverter Lens. Sypnosis
The Olympus MC-20 doubles the reach of the lens it attaches to, eg on 300mm PRO it becomes 600mm after conversion. However, the lens loses 2 stops of lens brightness, from F4 to F8 maximum aperture opening. The MC-20 is only compatible with two lenses currently (at the time of the video/article) - the Olympus M.Zuiko 40-150mm F2.8 PRO and 300 F4 IS PRO. The MC-20 is small, light (150g only) and has metal construction. It fits the two compatible lenses very well, the combination feels secure in hand with no creaking or rattling. Handling is very good, and I have no complains when shooting with the lens in real life. AF performance is blazing fast, maybe slightly slower than using the lens without the MC-20, but still fast and reliable and there should not be a concern in actual shooting performance. The image quality from MC-20 is very good, giving the respected Olympus look, sharp, detailed and having good amount of contrast. Loss of sharpness is small, and considering the 2x conversion, is acceptable and still amazing.
