Announcement of 63rd National Film Awards was made today in Delhi. Gujarat has been awarded the most film friendly state in the Country this year.

During an interaction with media persons, it was said that some criteria were laid down for this particular award and most important criteria was for ease of doing film shoot combined with the facilities that are there, how much facilitation the government offers, reports from some producers etc.

Media persons were told that the special award which is titled 'the most film friendly state' has been introduced this year. The selection process for this award wa coordinated by National Film Development Corporation and it was done through a jury which had four members.

Jury Ashwini Lohani said, "we had on the jury besides myself Sudhir Mishra, Bharat Bala and Parvesh Sahani. Over 16 entries from different states were received. We went through all entries and choose the State of Gujarat primarily for its efforts in direction of ease of doing business in respect of facilitation of films and toward promotion of Indian cinema. This was a very very objective evaluation. We went through each state on various parameters that have been laid out. We decide to give special mention to Uttar Pradesh for single window clearance, incentives, attaching a liaison officer and also to the State of Kerala for web portal, film studio, excellent back office data bases"


Some of the prominent winners in various categories for this year National Film Awards include Bahubali in the best Feature Film category and Amdavad Ma Famous in the best Non-Feature Film Category.

Amitabh Bachchan has been given the best actor award for the film Piku and Kangana Ranaut has been given the best actress award for her movie Tanu Weds Manu Returns.

Samuthirakan has been given the Best Supporting Actor award for the film Visaranaai.

The award for best supporting actress has beengiven to Tanvi Azmi for her role in Bajirao Mastani.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali has been given the Best Direction Award for his Film Bajirao Mastani.

Dr. Rajakumar Samagra Charithre has been given the Best Book on cinema award.

The best film critic award has been given to Meghachandra Kongbam who interprets the world of Indian cinema for his readers in Manipuri.

This year National Film Awards includes a special award given to the state of Gujarat for being the most film friendly state in the Country.
