Today's video featuring the Brambling.

Brambling is similar in size and shape to a common chaffinch that I showed you feeding its chicks this summer.

In Philippines this bird is a migrant species that is rare - it has been spotted in Batan and Calayan in the months of October to November.

This bird was filmed in the South of Norway during the month of November.
This bird is rather shy but can be found along the Norwegian coast from North to South during the whole year as it will stay here year-long. This bird also breeds throughout the forests of northern Europe (Norway, Sweden, Finland) and east across the Palearctic.

The Brambling is migratory (apart from parts of Norway), wintering in southern Europe, North Africa, northern India, northern Pakistan, China, and Japan. As a global traveler this bird stays regularly into Alaska during migration and has been found as far south as the western United States.

As with so many bird species the population trend is sadly decreasing.
But for now it is still categorized as LEAST CONCERN (LC) by International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).

During the month of October and November weather in Norway has turned grey, dark and rainy. I did visit Mølen last week but now most birds had left. The most exciting species we saw was was a small flock of common scoter (Melanitta nigra). But as the birds was so far out I did not manage to take any good film of it.
