68. Romans 14v8-11 – Belonging To The Lord

Romans 14v8-11 ESV
8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.
9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living.
10 Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God;
11 for it is written, “As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.”

1. Christ has total ownership
John 11
25 Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live,
26 and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?'"

Hebrews 7
25 Consequently, he is able to save to the uttermost those who draw near to God through him, since he always lives to make intercession for them.

Romans 8
38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers,
39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

2. Eternal perspective
Philippians 3
20 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ,
21 who will transform four lowly body to be like his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

Colossians 3
1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth."

2 Corinthians 4
17 For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison,
18 as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen. For the things that are seen are transient, but the things that are unseen are eternal.

3. Accountable to the Lord
Galatians 6
1 Brothers, if anyone is caught in any transgression, you who are spiritual should restore him in a spirit of gentleness. Keep watch on yourself, lest you to be tempted.
2 Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ.

Hebrews 4
13 And no creature is hidden from his sight, but all are naked and exposed to the eyes of him to whom we must give account.
