US President Joe Biden has unveiled a minimum tax targeting billionaires in his $5.8 trillion budget request to Congress.

The Biden administration is seeking to impose a 20 per cent minimum tax on households worth more than $100 billion, in a proposal which would raise some $360 billion from 700 individuals.

However, the tax currently remains unpopular with both Republicans and moderate Democrats.
