Picking up the last group of Belgian Draft Horses rescued from Bowie Livestock and an extra traveler

Описание к видео Picking up the last group of Belgian Draft Horses rescued from Bowie Livestock and an extra traveler

Episode 105
On September 29, 2024, Bowie Texas Livestock posted 27 Belgian Draft horses on their website that were going to ship to slaughter! 16 of the 27 were colts and fillies (4 to 6 months old). The other 11 were older horses with an age range of 2-20 years old. Our foundation (Big Hoof Foundation) raised money to rescue 6 of the older Belgian Draft horses from shipping to slaughter!
A few days after we rescued the 6 horses, a very generous subscriber reached out to us because she didn't want the 4 remaining Belgian Draft horses to ship to slaughter. She offered to pay the full bail for the 4 and boarding till we could pick them up. Of course we said yes! We rescued 10 Belgian Draft horses in total! Until...the night before we were heading to Bowie to pick up the first set of Belgians there was a Belgian filly posted on Bowies website with an injured leg. She was on the direct ship list and was going to ship to slaughter on Monday. There was no way I was going to let a 6 month old horse ship to slaughter! We rescued her as well!

On October 4th, we picked up the first load of Belgian Draft horses and October 11th was the second set. This video is of us picking up the second set of Belgians we rescued along with yet another extra traveler that we weren't planning on rescuing! That seems to be a patter lately on our rescue missions! And I'm ok with that!

As a growing horse rescue group, we rely on monetary donations to keep the organization moving forward. The Big Hoof Foundation will always be transparent with how your donations are used. 100% of the money we raise goes directly to the rescued horses' bail fees, transport, feed, hay, medical bills, medications, alternative medical treatments, supplements, surgeries, etc. Every dollar raised is for the horses!

Another way to support us is with feed...the one item WE always need is FEED! If you would like to send a gift/donation of feed (Alfa Pro or beardless wheat) you can send that through our local feed store, HF & C Amarillo. When you call, tell them you are sending a gift to Fletcher Farms Amarillo/Big Hoof Foundation and they will add the gifts to our account.

Alfa-Pro is a complete pelleted alfalfa mixed with vitamins and minerals. Alfa-Pro is $17.45 per bag. They do offer a discount if you purchase by the pallet (40 - 50 pound bags) $16.95 per bag if purchased by the pallet.
We are also feeding round bales of beardless wheat and the horses go through about 2 bales every few days. A round bale of beardless wheat is $140. We also use small square bales of beardless wheat and can be purchased through HF&C Amarillo for $14.95 each.
