The Card Counter (2021) - The Price of War

Director and writer Paul Schrader has seen a fascinating return to dramas about unhinged protagonists and the sick world they live in. While First Reformed received a lot of praise, The Card Counter (2021) seems to have gone under the radar. The Curtain Call investigates and finds a deeply disturbing portrait of the military industrial complex and veterans left to return to society.
