A key moment arises after 14.Nh4, when Carlsen’s reply allows Caruana to obtain the more comfortable position and build what soon becomes a decisive advantage. Carlsen, however, refuses to go quietly, complicating the position and making Caruana’s conversion far from straightforward. As the position sharpens, Carlsen’s piece activity turns the tables, and he ultimately emerges victorious. This third game proved to be the only decisive encounter of the match, securing Magnus Carlsen yet another world championship title in the inaugural FIDE Freestyle Chess World Championship, a remarkable 21st world championship title overall.
