In this video I compared a notably warm sounding solid state stereo amplifier, the Sansui 7070 to a vacuum tube driven Harman Kardon A500 to see if there really is a big difference between the sound of tubes and the sound of transistors. Many audiophiles swear by the sound of vacuum tubes and the amps that they are powering typically go for thousands of dollars. Even certain single tubes can sell for more than $3000! Are they really worth that much?
