Janice hurries down the corridor on her way to report to the bridge (she's paying more attention to her tricorder than to where she's walking, so she nearly bumps into a female officer). Charlie, with a small glass jar in his hand, rushes up from behind her, gets Janice's attention, and proudly announces, "I brought you a present." Janice takes the jar, at first not paying much attention to it. Then, she realizes that it is her favorite perfume (which is not available on the ship). She asks where he found it. Charlie avoids answering and simply says, "It's a present."

Charlie pleads with Janice to stay for a while and talk to him. She tells him that she's late in reporting for duty. Charlie is persistent, so Janice tells him to meet her later in the recreation room. Charlie beams and responds to her, "You've got a deal, friend." Then, as they both start to walk in opposite directions, he smacks Janice on her lovely bottom. Janice is shocked-she turns around and angrily yells out, "Charlie!"
