One of the best things about rescuing and rehabbing batties, is letting them go and seeing them flap off after sometimes months of care.
This little guy had been inconveniently placed and was rescued by a MOP.
He was dropped into a zoo, observed for 48 hours and test flown, and after ascertaining he wasn't injured, he was released back where he was found.
Microbats speak dialects, and don't welcome lone bats who don't speak their language into their territory, so bats are released back where they were found, where they have family and a social structure and can speak the language.
If we don't know where they came from (like bats found in produce in long distance trucks, or bats obviously having hitched a ride from somewhere) the bats are buddied up with other bats of their species, for whom we do know a location, then they're released together.
