Disclaimer: Iam just an everyday girl trying to figure out ways to keep my family healthy naturally. I’ve been making elderberry syrup for a couple of years now after watching videos and doing my own research. I get excited about learning new things, and I love sharing what I’ve found helpful. Now, let’s talk about homemade elderberry syrup—a simple and natural way to support your immune system. If you’re new to making elderberry syrup, don’t worry! A basic recipe can be made with just elderberries, ginger, cloves, and orange peels. But if you want to kick it up a notch, my recipe includes a few extra herbs for added benefits!

Ingredients & Why I Use Them:

✔️ Dried Elderberries – These little berries are packed with antioxidants and are known for supporting immune health and fighting off colds and flu.
✔️ Cinnamon – Helps with digestion, supports blood sugar levels, and adds a cozy warmth to the syrup.
✔️ Cloves – Great for respiratory support, soothing coughs, and adding a deep, rich flavor.
✔️ Mullein – One of my favorites for lung health! It helps clear mucus and supports breathing.
✔️ Orange Peels – Adds a fresh citrusy flavor and is high in vitamin C for extra immune support.
✔️ Peppermint – Soothes digestion, helps open up the sinuses, and gives the syrup a nice refreshing touch.
✔️ Burdock Root – A powerhouse for detoxing and supporting liver health.
✔️ Ginger – Helps with digestion, fights inflammation, and gives the syrup a little kick.
✔️ Lemon – Another great source of vitamin C to help keep your immune system strong.
✔️ Raw Honey – Not only makes the syrup taste amazing, but it also acts as a natural preservative and has antimicrobial benefits.

How to Make It:

1️⃣ Add all ingredients (except honey) into a saucepan with water and bring to a boil.
2️⃣ Once boiling, reduce heat and let it simmer for 45 minutes, stirring occasionally.
3️⃣ Allow the mixture to cool until warm, then strain out the herbs.
4️⃣ Stir in raw honey until well combined.
5️⃣ Pour into a glass, airtight container and store in the refrigerator.

How I Use It:

🫙 Storage: Keeps for 3-6 months in the fridge (honey helps preserve it). If you see mold, toss it and make a fresh batch.
🥄 Dosage:
• For daily immune support: 1 tablespoon per day.
• If I feel something coming on: 1 tablespoon every 2-3 hours.
⚠️ Always check with your doctor before adding new herbs to your routine.
