During a discussion on India’s economic policy in the Lok Sabha, Purnia MP Pappu Yadav strongly criticised the central government and demanded a special economic package for Purnia and the Kosi–Seemanchal region. He said the region has huge potential for agriculture-based industries, but development is slow due to government neglect.

He demanded at least 10 processing factories each for maize (corn) and makhana, saying this would increase farmers’ income and create local jobs.
