Normally when you add a new layer in Procreate, the layer is completely opaque and covers any layers beneath it. But you can totally adjust how your layers interact with Blend Modes…

1. Doodle something on your first layer.
2. Tap the Layers icon and the + sign to add a new layer.
3. Tap the small N on your New Layer to bring up your Blend Mode Options
4. Scroll and Tap ‘Multiply’ (You’ll see a small M on that layer now instead of N)
5. Now when you doodle on your new layer, anytime it overlaps something on your first layer, it will Multiply the luminosity for a darkening effect (instead of covering it!)
