Carbon Bike Flaws - Sand Through

In this video we talk about the common flaw of sand through. This is where the material has been sanded through during preparation for finishing paint. This flaw can have a significant effect on the part, for example if a section is 10 plies thick and 3 have been sanded through on a corner the area is now at best 70% of it's original designed mechanical properties. This flaw is very common on bikes, sometimes this marble effect is sold as feature, mostly it is painted over, it is less than ideal.
