The European Union has unveiled rules to rein in tech giants. The proposals include two complimentary pieces of law: the Digital Markets Act and the Digital Services Act. The Digital Services Act is set to focus on stepping up oversight of illegal and harmful content, while The Digital Markets Act is set to stop companies' predatory practices that lead to uncompetitive market dominance. U.S. digital giants could be forced to change their practices, fined up to 10 percent of their annual turnover, or even break up their European businesses -- if they're found violating the new rules. The move comes as the bloc aims to have one set of rules to govern the digital EU market, and put an end to monopolistic behaviors.
