Wimbleball is a hub of colour and activity throughout all the seasons. Nestled within the rolling hills of Exmoor National Park, there are plenty of ways to get active at Wimbleball. With an array of walking and cycling trails winding around the 530 acre site, and a fantastic range of watersports and other activities available, this is the perfect location to spend a day outdoors – whether you are looking for a leisurely stroll or a challenging expedition.

Located within Europe’s first International Dark Sky Reserve on Exmoor, Wimbleball is a designated Dark Sky Discovery Site and is the perfect place to stargaze and engage with nature and the outdoors in its greatest form.

Boasting a variety of special wildlife hotspots, visitors can expect to find a range of wildfowl, as well as mammalian varieties such as hedgehogs, weasels and, if you are lucky (and quiet!), the iconic Exmoor red deer. But as spring fast approaches, flashes of patterned wings and the twitch of antenna become a more regular sight around the lake as the butterflies begin to take flight!

The Wimbleball Dam is located in Somerset, England. It is a 161 feet (49 m) high concrete buttress dam that was constructed in the 1970s and completed in 1979. The dam impounds the River Haddeo to provide a water storage capacity of some 21,000 megalitres over an area of 374 acres (1.51 km²). The lake formed by the dam is called Wimbleball Lake and is a popular location for walking, camping, birdwatching, angling, sailing, windsurfing, canoeing, rowing, and kayaking .

About Haddon Hill
One of the higher points in the south west of Exmoor National Park, overlooking Wimbleball Reservoir. Haddon Hill provides a really accessible way to experience Exmoor's wide open moorlands. It is a great place to the herd of free roaming Exmoor Ponies that live here. The heather and gorse provide a habitat for many species of insect and during the summer, including the rare heath fritillary.

Enjoy a walk around this pretty reservoir in the Brendon Hills on the edge of the Exmoor National Park. There's lovely grassy footpaths running alongside the water with splendid views of the surrounding hills, countryside and woodland.

. Here you'll find beech, oaks, silver birch and rowan trees and some pretty streams. Look out for red deer, roe deer and badgers in this area and geese, grebes and swans on the water.
