EP 101 Simple Minds - Waterfront

"Waterfront" is a song written and performed by Simple Minds released as the first single from their sixth album "Sparkle in the Rain". The bass player on the track is Dereck Forbes.

This is good practice for your picking/plucking technique! The adage "it's a lot harder than it looks" is especially true with this one!

I used my "mutt" Stingray for this track (OLP Stingray body with a G&L L-2000 tribute neck and an EMG MMCS pickup) and used fingers throughout. I recorded into Reason using my Steinberg UR44C interface. Tonally I used compression and a little chorus on the tone to help it sit in the mix.

The footage was filmed using a Samsung A52 smartphone in "Pro Video" mode. The onscreen tab was created by synching the Guitar Pro file with the audio track using Go PlayAlong 4 and capturing the result using NCH Debut. I then added the titles and edited everything together using DaVinci Resolve 17.
