Elder Spring, as a programme of the Tata Trusts, emerged as an outcome of this thinking process. Elder Spring is a programme of the #TataTrusts, which focuses on the elderly population, above the age of 60, and works towards improving the quality of their lives. Among the various programmes that have commenced under #ElderSpring, a Response system for the elderly (RSE) is being set up with a vision to serve the relevant needs of the elderly by synergizing Leadership, Collaboration, Innovation and Technology. Response system for the elderly (RSE) is a service that provides information, guidance, emotional support, and field intervention, driven by values of Consistency, Care, Empathy and Encouragement. The intent is to address various needs of the elderly on a single platform - toll free number 14567 - that will make it easy for the elderly members themselves to call for guidance. Elder Spring Response System has a technology backend and a connect centre, having officers with empathy and care for the elderly. In addition, there will be a dedicated corps of highly committed partners including volunteers, to provide support on the ground. The system is also collaborating with several government agencies. The first set of services that are being rolled out include - conversing with the elderly and counselling them, providing information pertaining to elderly care, rescuing abandoned elderly, and supporting victims of abuse. In addition, providing specific information on activity centres, caregivers, old age homes, products for the elderly, guidance on legal and pension-related issues. This service is currently proposed to be provided in Hyderabad city and will eventually be scaled up across the country in phases.
