Last year I accidentally discovered that seeds from my worm cast buckets do not break down. I had assumed that the process would heat up or stay wet enough to sprout things prior to my use so they wouldn’t activate… nope. Whoops!

But not all is lost because I’m using the castings to make worm-cast tea! This way all the extra stuff (seeds, sticks, plastic, etc) should stay in the bag while the good nutrients and beneficial microbes go into the water for an organic type of fertilizer.

The process is very simple. I filled a bucket with rain water, added my leftover worm castings (after sifting) to a laundry “delicates” bag, and added it to rain water to brew! I picked up an inexpensive solar powered aerator and after 24-48 hours, this should be ready to use!

I also used a powdered blackstrap molasses to feed the microbes.
