Описание к видео KETO APPLE PIE | Keto/Low Carb Dessert | Fried Keto Chayote Pie

Hi, welcome to my channel! In this video, I show how I make a keto apple pie made with chayote squash. Chayote has approximately 2 net carbs per 100 grams making it great for a keto diet. You can also use the filling for other recipes or as a topping. In this video, I doubled the filling but you can adjust to your liking. Recipe:

Makes 4 pies

1 chayote squash
1 tbsp butter
2 tbsp each allulose and monkfruit sweetener (or 1/4 cup of either) or to taste
1/8 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 tbsp lemon juice
1/4-1/2 cup water (adjust while cooking)
1 tsp cinnamon
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp allspice
Pinch of ginger
1 tsp vanilla extract
Pinch of salt
1 sheet of @cutdacarb flatbread
1/8 tsp xanthan gum

1. Wash, peel, and chop chayote into chunks
2. Melt butter in pan and add chayote and fry ~2 minutes
3. Add sweetener(s), ACV, lemon juice, spices, salt, water, and vanilla extract (note: adjust water to how thin or thick you want the filling, a lot of it will evaporate)
4. Stir and allow to simmer about 25 to 35 minutes
5. When chayote is tender, sprinkle xanthan gum to thicken the sauce (note: also adjust this to your liking but be very careful because you can't take it out once it's in)
6. Allow chayote mixture to cool for a few minutes
7. Cut flatbread into 4 rectangles and dampen slightly with paper towel and water to make it more pliable
8. Add ~1/4 chayote mixture to each piece of flatbread (try not to overfill), fold in half, and secure each pie with 3 toothpicks
9. Fry briefly in avocado oil to get the pies crispy about 1 minute a side. Remove the toothpicks. Enjoy!

If you're feeling a bit extra (like me) I mixed some monkfruit sweetener with cinnamon and put it on the freshly fried pies. I had it with a little bit of low carb vanilla ice cream.
