Happy Birthday to Stephanie Lynn “Stevie” Nicks who was born on this day in 1948. Thanks to my wife Lynn for letting me in on that bit of information. I was having a hard time deciding what to upload.

This song is a Nicks composition, “Rhiannon” off of Fleetwood Mac’s tenth studio album, the self titled “Fleetwood Mac”, which came out in 1975. This album was the first to feature new members, Lindsey Buckingham and Stevie Nicks.

The bass was played by the great John McVie. While on its surface it might seem like a pretty straightforward bass line, the second section of the verses (00:30, 1:01, 2:08 ) are each slightly different and took some time to commit to memory. Another interesting part is at 1:52. It’s a subtle variation of the main bass line and my guess is that it was a flub that worked.

There's a very good chance that this will get blocked but I'll keep it up as long as I can.
