Legal requirements for lights and reflectors on your Brompton. Intro to Bikemate rear camera light

Описание к видео Legal requirements for lights and reflectors on your Brompton. Intro to Bikemate rear camera light

It is illegal to cycle on a public road after dark without bike lights and reflectors. So what! You may think. However, if you are unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident during the hours of darkness as I was, then you may understand why you should pay more heed.
In my experience it only when your claim goes in that the Insurers legal team representing the driver begin looking for the loop hole that means they don't have to pay out on your claim. No reflectors on SPD pedals: tick, flat battery on one of your lights: tick. Etc. its a nightmare.

In this video, part one of getting you and your bike ready for winter I try to teach you about the basics of what is legal. I cannot stress enough how important this is in the event of a RTC, I had all the correct gear, good witnesses and was clearly not at fault. The local authorities insurers had other ideas and tried to squash the claim because of one reason after another. Swapping to SPD's being a major one.

Exactly which lights and reflectors do you need, where to fit them and when to light up, is defined by the Road Vehicles Lighting Regulations. When you ride a bicycle in the dark, the law requires that you have lights and reflectors; and the law is quite specific as to what lights and what reflectors you use.

Also included is. brief introduction to the Aldi Bikemate rear bike camera and light. More on that to follow. £39 from the Aldi website.
