Oil and Gas Engineering (Part 2) Wellhead and Wellhead Control Panel (WHCP)

A Wellhead Platform (WHP) mainly includes an integrated deck, utility systems, wellhead systems, helideck and drilling facilities. At times, it could be linked to Floating, Production, Storage and Offloading (FPSO) vessel or Central Production Platforms (CPP).

The Christmas tree valves shall be actuated by WHCP with hydraulic supply and these valves shall be operated through the WHT ESD system, using electrical solenoid valves. These solenoid valves shall be part of the WHCP and the Shutdown logic shall be executed at the WHT ESD System.

Usually, Wellhead Control Panel (WHCP) is place about 100 meters away from the wellhead or Christmas tree and the Hydraulic or Pneumatic output from panel is connected to wellhead through properly sized tubes.
