We were traveling on I 24 Eastbound the other day, up and over Monteagle in Tennessee. When we got to the top of the mountain, we noticed the runaway truck ramp sign at the brake check area said the second ramp was CLOSED! We got to wondering if it had been used recently, and sure enough, it had! They were still in the process of cleaning it up. What I didn't notice or capture in this video, was a pickup truck with a camper trailer just after the runaway truck ramp that had damage and at least two blown tires on the trailer. We suspect the semi truck that appears to have rolled over on the ramp and the camper trailer driver got into a wreck. It's all speculation, of course but, we always wonder how these things happen. Hoping everyone walked away and is ok after this nasty wreck!

FYI, we move over to the next lane farther from a vehicle parked on the shoulder for safety's sake. You never know when someone, whether it be an adult, a child, an animal, or even a ball, might come out into the road. It's safer to be farther away from such vehicles. And in a lot of states, it's law to move over for emergency vehicles with flashing lights, and in some states even if it's not an emergency vehicle.
