Jhalaak (spark) is a Sufi Hip Hop project that refracts the light of mystic poetry from the 13th century to illuminate present and future possibilities. Their music pulsates with the grooves of Hip Hop and EDM, while carrying the elation and ecstatic states inherent in the Qawaali tradition. Internationally celebrated Rajasthani musicians Chugge Khan, Salim Khan and Solanki Nathu Lal (of Rajasthan Josh and Junun) have toured the planet with Radiohead, and are no strangers to bringing music together from all corners of the world. Under the constellations of the 2014 summer sky, they found a kindred in spirit in Canadian born Desi Hip Hop artist and composer Ruby Singh, whose spoken word, rap and beat boxing have taken him across the globe. To expand the spectrum of Jhalaak, they have combined their sound with Juno and Emmy nominated producer and DJ Adham Shaikh. This potent combination of musicians is set to spark dance floors worldwide, the warmth of their fire entices everyone to get closer to the flame.
