The "Liederkreis", Op. 39, is a song cycle by Robert Schumann. It is a setting of twelve poems from the collection "Intermezzo" by Joseph von Eichendorff. It was composed in 1840, the year in which Schumann wrote such a large number of lieder that it is known as his "Liederjahr" ("year of song").
