Debt-ridden telecom company Vodafone Idea (VI) may face delays in securing its ₹25,000 crore debt funding plan. However, analysts believe the company could receive relief from the government, potentially converting a significant portion of its statutory dues into equity.

Analysts warn that this could slow the telecom operator’s financial recovery. Last week, the company’s management acknowledged potential delays in securing the debt funding.

The delays follow the Supreme Court’s rejection of VI’s curative petition regarding AGR (Adjusted Gross Revenue) dues. Earlier, the company had expressed confidence in obtaining bank loans by the end of November.

Vodafone Idea stated that lenders have adopted a wait-and-watch strategy for their debt funding plan. While discussions with lenders were progressing before the AGR petition was dismissed, the rejection has led to a pause in their decision-making process.
