For this battery backup system you need a battery that matches the votltage of your router and the power supply.Using a battery that is of higher voltage can damage your router(the voltage of the battery can be less then from the rated voltage of your router)
in this case i have a router that need 5 volts to work properly and my battery is also of about 5 volts.
Things you need for this setup are:
1.Battery
2.charging module
3.some wires
