Donauturm is a lookout tower, in the heart of the Danube Park in Vienna's 22nd district, the "Donaustadt". It was built from 1962 to 1964 on the occasion of the Vienna International Garden Show. The tower houses a rotating restaurant, a café and a viewing terrace. The mechanics of the rotating Resaurants is operated by the company MAN and electrically. The viewing terrace is 150 meters above the Danube, the restaurant is 180 meters above the Danube. The total height of the tower is 252 meters. At the base the reinforced concrete tower is 12 meters thick and in the area of the terrace only 6 meters thick. Donauturm ist ein Aussichtsturm,inmitten des Donauparks im 22. Wiener Gemeindebezirk Donaustadt. Er wurde von 1962 bis 1964 anlässlich der Wiener Internationalen Gartenschau errichtet. Der Turm beherbergt neben einem - sich drehendem Restaurant, ein Café und eine Aussichtsterrasse. Die Mechanik des sich drehenden Restaurants ist von der Firma MAN und elektrisch betrieben. Die Aussichtsterrasse ist auf 150 Metern über der Donau, das Restaurant in 180 Metern über der Donau. Die Gesamthöhe des Turmes ist 252 Meter. An der Basis ist der Stahlbeton Turm 12 Meter dick und im Bereich der Terrasse nur mehr 6 Meter dick. Sowohl die Aussicht, als auch das Restaurant sind ein Erlebnis und wurden seit seiner Entstehung bereits millionenfach besucht. (Ca. 20 Millionen Besucher).-
