In 1861, the first shots of the American Civil War were fired at Fort Sumter, which started the deadliest war in American history. After the fall of Fort Sumter, both sides started to ramp up for war, with the Union invading every piece of land possible while the confederates trying to hold them back. These early skirmishes will resort in the largest battle to take place on the North American Continent in July of 1861, the First Battle of Manassas.
