The Kampot provincial administration plans to build a new bridge across the Kampong Bay canal to ease traffic congestion for tourists visiting its province. This is according to a quote from the Kampot Provincial Information Department on August 20, 2024. In addition, HE Mao Thunin , Governor of Kampot Provincial Board of Governors, said that after the development of tourism, the provincial administration has established many tourism achievements, such as beaches, amusement parks and fish, horses, sea shots. His Excellency continued that due to the increase in the number of tourists visiting, there was a traffic jam every weekend as well as on national holidays, because the province has only one bridge over Kampong Bay canal and the old bridge (rainbow bridge) is not dilapidated. To allow cars to cross, so we need to build a new bridge to ease traffic congestion and facilitate the travel of people, especially tourists.

He added that the newly built bridge will not only serve the traffic, but we will organize multi-sectoral benefits, and this bridge will use the Khmer style to be attractive. In the sense of attracting more tourists as well.
